Transcript:

It's madman plant we are not back in the lab, we are in somebody else's lab today. We are at Farmer Freeman's and we are going to find out what the Holy Moly Donut shop is all about.

The first two samples we did both came out as male, and this is a great reason why you need to focus on Farmer Freeman's process. It can save you at least 3-4 weeks, especially in your garden. At least when you flip to flower right when it enters the budding stage.

Let's talk a little bit about testing and how the presenter got into it. DC legalized home grow/home cultivation around 2015, which was right when the presenter was finishing up their science degree in biology at American University. They knew immediately that they wanted to utilize what they had learned, but with the Cannabis industry.

Since there were no actual sales of cannabis in DC, everyone had to home grow. The presenter quickly realized they could do a DNA test and tell people if their plants are male or female, much earlier than they would naturally show. This is going to save a lot of headache for someone with a small garden or someone trying to be very precise.

In DC, you're limited to 6 plants, 3 in flowering. If you have two adults in the house, you can have 6 flowering and 12 veg, for a total of 12 plants. With a 50/50 chance, if you can only do 3 flowering plants, you're really taking a risk. Half the time, you'll only end up with one female, and then you have to start all over. If you DNA test early, you can make sure your canopy is maxed out with 3 females.

The presenter's business partner, Paul, has a pretty good experience with the test kits and selling them at a hydroculture shop. He mentions that since the retail ready kits have come out, people love them. They try to push people towards regular seeds, as they are more stable than feminized seeds, and you don't end up with as many hermaphrodites.

Utilizing someone like Farmer Freeman to test the seeds saves tons of time, instead of having to grow them out, cut clones, flower them, and go through the whole process. You can know if you have a male or female within a week and a half.

The presenter will show how simple the test kit is, whether you're a first-time user or an experienced grower. It's really that easy. Inside the retail kit, there will be smaller envelopes, sequentially labeled. Each envelope has a plant tag with the same sample number on it.

The presenter brought some leaves from the "Holy Moly Donut shop" plants, and they will demonstrate the process of transferring the leaf sample into the test kit. They emphasize the importance of being sterile and cleaning tools between samples to prevent cross-contamination and the spread of diseases like hop len.

After placing the leaf sample in the kit and sealing it up, they discuss some FAQs, such as what conditions could prevent a leaf from being testable, and how long the leaf sample can last once it's been removed from the plant.

Finally, they're ready to send the samples off to the lab to get the results.
